Complete the Census! Win Cash Prizes! Deadline: Oct. 8th, 2017

Open to all ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa members in good standing, and running from Sept. 5th to Oct 8th, 2017, this groundbreaking research project will shed light on who our members really are, as well as the acting work available to them. The census is online, secure, anonymous and takes less than ten minutes to complete! Complete it at home, on set, waiting for an audition…wherever you have Internet access!

With the census data, we can push to make our screens look more like our country and promote our acting talent both at home and to the world (so more work opportunities for you)! As well, there will be a draw of four cash prizes of $200 for completing the census, plus an additional $200 cash prize for competing in the Census Social Media Draw.
Remember, the census results will be more powerful when EVERYONE participates. And that includes you!

Check your email for your personalized census invite to take part!

The email will come from Ontario ACTRA Census (actra@malatest.com) with the subject line: The Ontario ACTRA Census – Tell us about yourself! If you haven’t received it, please check your spam folder.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The ACTRA Census?

It is a demographic survey that will examine the composition of ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa members. The census data gathered will provide information on any potential barriers members face with respect to work opportunities.

What is its purpose?

The results of the census will be a powerful tool in collective bargaining for equitable representation on screen and in related hiring. The data will also assist in promoting Ontario within Canada and abroad with the goal of increasing productions and work opportunities in our province.

Who should complete The Ontario ACTRA Census?

All ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa members in good standing should complete the census. This includes Apprentice Members, Full Members, and AABP members across all performance categories. While participation is not mandatory, all members are strongly encouraged to participate in the census. Broad member participation is essential for ACTRA to better understand and serve its membership.

Can ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa child members (under 18 years of age) complete the census?

Yes, and it’s important that we know who our child performers are! However, the child performer’s parent or guardian must give consent first before the child member can complete it. All ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa child members will be emailed a Parental Consent Form from actra@malatest.com with instructions on how the parent/guardian can consent, complete the form and send it back to ACTRA Toronto, ACTRA Ottawa or Malatest (the third-party research company conducting the census).

How will The Ontario ACTRA Census be conducted?

This is an online initiative. ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa Members will receive personalized census email invitations to the email address they have supplied to ACTRA, which will include a link to the census and your unique access code.

When is the deadline to complete the census?

The deadline to complete the census is October 8th, 2017.

How long does the census take to complete?

Depending on the detail of your answers, The ACTRA Ontario Census will take about 10 minutes.

Which devices can I complete the census on?

You can complete the census on your desktop, tablet or smartphone. All you need is an internet connection and an email invite!

What about the Prize draw?

To thank you for your participation, you can enter a draw to win one of 4 cash prizes of $200! Members who participate in the social media prize draw will be entered into a separate draw to win a $200 cash prize. Details for both draws are in the census. Both prize draws are not open to residents of Quebec.

Permission to anonymously compare census data with ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa member records:

At the conclusion of The Ontario ACTRA Census, members will be invited to anonymously compare their census data with existing records of overall member auditions and employment history.
