Political Action Committee ACTRA Toronto 's political action committee is designed to provide performers with a strong voice in the provincial government. In working with other unions and guilds in the arts, ACTRA Toronto is rebuilding a common voice on arts and cultural issues at the provincial level. The committee is spearheading a campaign to save Canadian television drama. Since 1999, Canadian produced dramatic series on our televisions have declined from 12 to a low of three. That kind of decline has major consequences for our culture and our jobs. ACTRA Toronto is involved in a number of campaigns on arts issues. ACTRA members can get involved by sending emails to politicians, coming out to demonstrations and events, signing petitions and more. Our current campaign activities are linked from our homepage at www.actratoronto.com. ACTRA Toronto works hard to put arts and culture issues on the agenda of provincial and municipal governments, and is a strong force on ACTRA National’s political action committee lobbying on national issues. ACTRA Toronto’s political action committee (PAC) meets with Toronto-area politicians and is active with the Ontario Federation of Labour Arts and Labour Subcommittee. If you think you might be interested in working on these issues, please contact Heather Allin, Chair of ACTRA Toronto’s Political Action Committee at: hallin@council.actratoronto.com <<<BACK TO HOME PAGE |
