ACTRA member races across America to raise funds for Sick Kids Hospital June 8, 2007 – ACTRA Toronto member Chris Bolton and Toronto lawyer, Sam Babe, are cycling across the U.S. in the Race Across America (RAAM) to raise money for Sick Kids Hospital. The race covers 4,800 km in seven days, raced 24 hours a day. Chris and Sam’s team is known as Team SKRAAM (Sick Kids Race Across America), and their progress and updates are reported at www.skraam.com. The race, which begins June 12, will see Chris and Sam riding 24 hours a day in two-hour relay shifts. The two aim to raise awareness and $250,000 for Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. Chris, co-producer, writer and star of Rent-A-Goalie (ACTRA Award nomination) lost a brother to a pediatric form of cancer called Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). Sam was diagnosed with the same disease at age 24, beating it thanks to treatment developed at Sick Kids in the decades since Christopher’s brother was a Sick Kids’ patient. Chris and Sam are taking this journey to help other children with serious illnesses benefit from Sick Kids research and treatment. Good luck Team SKRAAM! |
