Join PAL
TORONTO and help Canadian artists
(anyone can be a member)

If you are a member of the performing arts community, consider becoming a member of PAL TORONTO. Below is a request to join PAL TORONTO from Board Member Ken Gass, Artistic Director of The Factory Theatre.

Dear Friend of the Canadian Performing Artist,

I’m writing with a very simple request: I want you to join PAL TORONTO.

This is a very modest request – it will only cost you $20 – but it brings a large array of benefits. Your membership will support the extraordinary work of your Performing Arts Lodge (PAL) and I know you, like me, will simply take pride in being a part of it all.

Situated at 110 The Esplanade, near the St. Lawrence Market, PAL TORONTO is now 13 years old, and has been a flagship for other Performing Arts Lodges that are coming into being across the country. Most importantly, it has evolved into a wonderful community, a creative and supportive environment for the 215 residents and others who support our fundamental aim of helping to provide housing for our senior artists at a reasonable cost. Beyond this, through its Supporting Cast initiative, PAL has been able to provide added assistance to numerous lives by offering the caring, informal support that has helped many of our senior artists live independently for as long as possible.

PAL TORONTO is managed by hard-working volunteer Board of Directors, and with support from many other volunteers, has been able to organize special events for the benefit of residents. We deal with the complexities of maintaining the building (along with our professional staff) and other issues related to not-for-profit housing. We also must look to the future, and consider where we might grow or otherwise respond to our large community needs further down the road. This is where you as a Member come in.

As well as receiving communications about our activities, you have voting privileges at our Annual General Meetings. An additional benefit of membership is admittance to the Celebrity Club at PAL Place; where you can meet colleagues and industry friends on Friday nights, enjoy the entertainment and the cheapest drinks in town. We need and welcome your participation in helping to sustain our work and in helping to shape our future.

Please join now. You’ll be glad you did. If you are able to also make a tax-receiptable donation to assist our work, that, of course, would also be welcome.

Yours sincerely,

Ken Gass
PAL Board Member
