Women in the Directors’ Chair 2008
January 17 - February 3, 2008

A seriously road-tested professional development program, WIDC takes mid-level women directors through all the components of a professional dramatic media production, from script to screen with senior mentors, professional actors and crews.

July, 2007 - Each year, eight women screen directors hone their directing skills in the critically acclaimed W omen in the Director's Chair (WIDC) program that takes director participants through all the components of a professional dramatic media production with professional (ACTRA) actors and (DGC, IATSE) crews. If you are an experienced performer crossing over to directing, WIDC will build on your transferable skills, release creativity, increase your confidence and take your career to the next level.

ACTRA members are encouraged to apply as actor participants. Ten ACTRA actors are selected each year, primarily based on the casting needs of the main scenes being shot by the directors. The WIDC Workshop creates a safe place where actors can interact with directors as well as other creative personnel and elements that can influence the actor's craft. Actors give and receive feedback, learn from each other and share information about what's going on for actors regionally and nationally. Actors leave the program with a deeper understanding of their craft and a new set of professional contacts.
