ACTRA Toronto Council
ACTRA Toronto is a branch/local union of ACTRA, the Alliance of Cinema, Television and Radio Artists. As a result, it operates according to ACTRA's constitution and by-laws and is governed by a council of elected members of the union with the support of union staff.
How Council Works
ACTRA Toronto's governing council of twenty-four performers acts as a board of directors, making the policies by which ACTRA Toronto is run. Councillors are full ACTRA members in good standing who are elected for a two-year term.
The council elects a president and one or more vice-presidents from among the twenty-four Councillors elected by the members. The president chairs the council meetings and serves as the chief spokesperson for ACTRA Toronto. Many Councillors also serve the members through ACTRA Toronto committees which address issues of interest to members.
What's Council Doing?
There are several ways to keep informed about what your Council is doing:
- Council reports regularly to members in person through plenary sessions at Members' Conferences
- Town hall meetings are called at key points to seek member input.
- You are also invited to view our most current Operating Plan for details on ACTRA Toronto's directions for the year.
- You can view our detailed budget. Financials are provided to all members in an issue of Performers magazine.
