Members gathered online for the ACTRA Toronto Fall Members Conference on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

Once again, the Members Conference provided a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from representatives on ACTRA Toronto Council, improve professional skills and connect with other members.

Films

Conference attendees were able access to watch a special virtual #ACTRACon screening of the following films. The screening window closed on Thursday, Oct 19th at 9am and ACTRA Toronto is no longer able to provide access. Read below to learn more about the films.

FILM – Junior’s Giant

A close-knit Grandfather and his trans Granddaughter struggle when his dementia sparks an imaginary giant and gender confusion, causing pain for them both.

An innocent evening out at a local bar takes a life and death turn for two Indigenous women.

A young man who prides himself on his drive and determination makes some tough discoveries as he awaits some big news in this energetic and perceptive drama by Ivan D. Ossa.

FILM – Plant Daddy

After rescuing an abandoned potted plant, Phil spirals into an absurd plant obsession to avoid visiting his father on his deathbed.

FILM – Desi Standard Time Travel

When a new father suddenly loses his own dad, an opportunity to travel back in time for an evening gives him a chance to end things on a better note.

At the ACTRA Toronto Plenary Session, members heard ACTRA Toronto’s elected leadership and staff report on the NCA, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, work opportunities, industry news and the union’s current Operating Plan, and a few picked up some fabulous prizes thanks to our generous sponsors!
