Are you a comedy creator who is living (or has recently lived) in Ontario?

We’re excited to tell you about a first-ever study of its kind in Canada. This is your chance to help improve the industry for comedy performers, writers and producers.

This survey is intended for stand-up, sketch and improv performers, as well as comedy writers, producers and social media content creators. Whether you (pre-COVID-19) perform in live venues, or not, we need your insight and to hear about your professional activities with respect to produced media.

Filling out this survey will help CANCOM and the entire comedy sector to understand the barriers felt by comedians in Ontario, as well as the new pathways for their success. You will inform the creation of development programs, funding resources and production opportunities for comedy creators that have never existed before. We need you to participate!

The information you provide will be confidential and secure.
PLEASE complete the survey TODAY (see below) to give us this vital feedback.

The Foundation for Canadian Comedy (CANCOM), in partnership with the independent consulting firm Nordicity, is conducting this research to develop the first-ever Profile of Ontario’s Comedy Content Creators in order to address their specific challenges and opportunities.

This project has been generously funded by Ontario Creates’ Business Intelligence Program (BIP), and is financially sponsored by: The Canadian Association of Stand-up Comedians (CASC), ACTRA Toronto, Just for Laughs/Group Juste pour rire, (JFL), Project 10 Productions Inc., Andrew Barnsley Productions Inc., and SOCAN; with additional letters of support from Frantic Films and Buck Productions. The views expressed in the project do not necessarily reflect those of the Province, or other funders, sponsors, supporters or partners.

The survey questionnaire will take 10 to 15 minutes and is only available for a short time.

Please click here to access the survey.

Rest assured – all survey responses collected as part of this study will be held confidentially by Nordicity on secure, Canadian-based servers. Individual responses will never be shared with CANCOM, Ontario Creates, or any other project partners, sponsors and supporters. If you have any issues or challenges with the questionnaire, please contact Kristian Roberts of Nordicity.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this pioneering study to help identify the priorities of Ontario’s comedy industry.

Sincerely,

Adam Growe
