Running for Election to the ACTRA Toronto Stunt Committee

Attention ACTRA Toronto Stunt Community Members:

The ACTRA Toronto Stunt Committee is composed of 5 elected members and 3 alternates. This committee elects its chairperson from the members of the committee.

If you meet the eligibility requirements below and are interested in running, fill out the nomination form which will be available on this page when nominations open on August 30, 2019.

What does the ACTRA Toronto Stunt Committee do?

Stunt Committee members bring their experience as stunt performers, their familiarity with our collective agreements, and their commitment to building work opportunities and improving health and safety on set to:

  • Address current issues facing stunt performers on-set
  • Reach out and involve ACTRA’s stunt performers in member conferences, workshops, events, and the collective bargaining process
  • Plan and engage in ACTRA’s Respect the Artist and legislative campaigns to build work opportunities and improve working conditions

Who is eligible to participate in this vote?

According to the ACTRA Toronto By-Laws, ARTICLE 9.5, to be eligible to nominate, run for election or vote for the Toronto Stunt Committee, an ACTRA member must:

  1. Be a Full Member in good standing of ACTRA Toronto; and
  2. Have worked on at least 3 stunt contracts in the last 24 months.

Recognizing that there may be special circumstances in which a stunt performer is unable to work on at least 3 stunt contracts in the 24 months preceding an election (as a result of injury, disability, retirement) a member may apply to have their name added to the voters list on or before October 11, 2019. Applications to add names to the voters list will be considered by the ACTRA Toronto Executive Director or designate.

Recipients of the ACTRA Toronto Stunt Community Award will be added as permanent members of the voters list.

Note, we are conducting ACTRA Toronto Council elections at the same time. Stunt performers who are eligible to run for the stunt committee may also run for a position on the ACTRA Toronto Council.

More information about the 2019 ACTRA Toronto Council Election is available on the Council Election 2019 page.

Stunt Committee members, in addition to their commitment and passion for their work, are strong team players, with well-developed communication skills, a sense of humour, and a strong desire to improve the working terms and conditions of all performers.

Diversity is our strength. ACTRA Toronto is committed to gender equality and the representation of physically and culturally diverse performers throughout the union.
