John McGrath is ACTRA Toronto’s Ombudsperson. If you have concerns or questions about how ACTRA Toronto has responded to a problem you have raised, John will advocate and mediate on your behalf.

A proud member of ACTRA Toronto since 1989 and former Chair of ACTRA Toronto’s Act Your Age Commmittee, John McGrath is an award-winning voice actor who has brought countless characters to life on shows such as Hotel Transylvania (the series), Super Why!, Maggie & the Ferocious Beast (to name a few).


What is an Ombudsperson?

The ACTRA Toronto Ombudsperson is independent of ACTRA Toronto Management and staff, and reports to ACTRA Toronto Council. The ACTRA Toronto Ombudsperson has no power to make binding orders, adjudicate, or enforce judgments.

The services of the ACTRA Toronto Ombudsman are free and confidential.

What can I complain about?

The ACTRA Toronto Ombudsperson is an impartial investigator of ACTRA Toronto members’ complaints, including (but not limited to) complaints arising from the administration of policy at ACTRA Toronto, ACTRA Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS) and/or ACTRA Performers’ Rights Society (PRS).

The ACTRA Toronto Ombudsperson cannot consider complaints about matters before the discipline committee.
